Origin Aqua was founded in 2006 by Andrew Cox. His strong belief was that swimming pools could and should be chlorine-free, and naturally healthy.
For over 10 years, we have worked in partnership with the University of the West of England and Cranfield University to pioneer the world’s most advanced pool filtration system utilising bio-filtration, fine filtration and natural minerals to provide crystal clear, chlorine-free water.

We have spent time, energy and money to create a global network of pool installers and end clients and we have partners now in UK, France, Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, India to name just a few.

We began by designing and building plant-based natural swimming ponds, where plants and gravel beds cleaned the water instead of chemicals.
Working with microbiologists, we discovered that it was the bacteria in the gravel, not the plants themselves, doing most of the work – removing nutrients like phosphate, nitrogen and carbon so algae and pathogens couldn’t thrive.
We evolved the concept into a compact system that fits inside a standard pool plant room – no plants needed. Thousands of R&D hours and millions of investment went into developing Mineral+Biome®, which can now be installed on new and existing pools, indoor or outdoor.
Origin Aqua has launched Mineral+Biome® in the UK and beyond as a chemical-free, biological filtration system that typically uses around 50% less energy and 50% less water than traditional pool systems, while delivering spa-quality mineral water.

Origin Aqua is based in the UK, with projects across the country, and has a growing presence in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands and other European markets and International markets through partners and local teams.
